- Use the GMC content map as a checklist, not a reading list.
- It names the conditions, presentations and practical procedures a new doctor should handle.
- It also covers professional values, communication and prescribing safety.
- Tick off topics you have met in clinics and on placement, then close the gaps.
Turning the map into a study plan
- Split the map into small blocks, such as one body system a week.
- Rate each topic red, amber or green, honestly, and start with red.
- Link each topic to something you have actually seen on placement. Real patients make facts stick.
- Revisit green topics briefly so they stay green.
